Disobey has been a cornerstone of Nordic hacker culture since 2015.
I personally approached the organizers to create motion graphics for the event, seeing it as the perfect sandbox to experiment with non-commercial, boundary-pushing visuals in After Effects.
The teaser was originally intended for the main stage, but during the process, we realised it wasn't "loud" enough for a live crowd of that scale. We made the strategic decision to pivot: using the teaser for online promotion and ambient video screens throughout the venue, while developing something more high-impact for the main stage.
The breakthrough came through sound. By switching the soundtrack, the entire mood of the visuals shifted. I moved away from static news headlines in favor of glitchy, raw news footage. The result is an atmospheric piece that aligns perfectly with the disruptive spirit of the event.
